The sending seeds to the future – the story

This story is a project in which designer Cường Đàm has shared that it needed to happen within our timeline. Both C.Dam and CABE studio started all-out efforts towards the project to create a series of events that moves the audience and enthusiasts.

Building concepts and visuals for fashion brands is always a fascinating challenge for our studio. With a concept splendid in images and notions, we had the opportunity to brag ourselves via many materials such as installation, visual, sculpture, and spatial. CABE Studio is proud to have learned, tested, and affirmed our concept and visual direction in this project.

Let’s contemplate our story about the Seeds to profoundly relish it once more.

Cường Đàm’s designs bear the hallmarks of distinct futurism combined with traditional elements and lines of East Asian and Vietnamese arts. Observing his sketches, we could find the image of many ellipses.

From that initials, we have stumbled upon the big idea of visualizing rice grains, which provokes a broader story as rice grains are an indispensable symbol of the rice-land civilization. The images of the civilization such as yếm, carrying pole, nón quai thao, rice grains, etc, are where all of Cường Đàm’s inspirations were nurtured in.

Seeds, the yin-yang concept in design, and futurism are combined to create an iconic and fashionable symbol; hence the birth of the rice grain spacecraft.

Will it be necessary to treasure and preserve the old values when the world will have reached an extent? That is the question that has always stayed in our minds. In Vietnam, a country with millions of years of wet rice civilization, we believe that our mission is still to respect and develop those values. In the present tense, we want to develop everything from it: grain of rice, grain of rice to eat, wear, or even make a spaceship.

580 is the number of grains in the Inflowing logo. A grain of rice is not only a spaceship but also a language for us to communicate with others.

Other versions of the logo

Invitation cards are packed in real grains of rice with a rustic scent and surface to the touch.

On the rice sack is attached the silver casted spaceship logo and engraved the Inflowing logo on top.

The Vietnamese countryside becomes surreal in the image of C.Dam’s costume

And we actually built this spacecraft

A production of T-Art

Along with the spacecraft landing site to present 33 designs in the collection.

There are 3 main experience spaces for the audience:

1. Timeline – the development process of designer Cuong Dam

2. Field – where ideas and concepts start

3. Seeds – from space, to the future

Actual images: field deployment with C.Dam’s conceptual ideas and the test landing of the grain spaceship at the VCCA – Vincom Center for Contemporary Art

Like a symphony, the elements of light, materials, models, make-up, music, visual, etc. are all smoothly blended in the show under the skillful direction of the program director Thành Chu, catwalk director Tuyết Lan and art director Vic Lee

Artist Ngô Hồng Quang with fascination with ethnic musical instruments.

We always put the viewer’s experience and feelings first. Each project is a challenge for us to push our limits. Seeds have been sent! See you in the next projects.
